DECATUR, Ill. — Andrew Joseph Soper, 38, of Decatur, formerly of Centralia, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2023.

Andrew was born on October 4, 1984, to Randy Soper of Decatur, Evelyn (Majewski) Soper of Centralia. He was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with his intelligence, kindness, and compassion. Andrew had a passion for the Chicago Cubs and presidential history. When he was younger, he could list off the presidents from start to finish, and even in reverse. He was great at sports, playing Baseball, Basketball and Soccer in his youth. He loved playing guitar, listening to alternative music, and had a crush on singer Katy Perry.

He is survived by his parents Randy (Casey) and Evelyn, son Raymond of Decatur; wife Kristin (Gullen) of Decatur; brother Dustin of Nashville, TN; grandfather Leonard Majewski of O’Fallon, MO; uncles Gary (Lisa) Soper of Kankakee, IL; Carl (Terri) Majewski of Laramie, WY; and David (Jo Elllen) Majewski of St. Paul, MO; aunts Sandra (James) Henson of Centralia; Brenda (Larry) Hays of Mesa, AZ; Gloria (John David) Finney of Centralia; and great Aunt Sylvia Shockley of Sparta, IL; as well as many cousins and friends around the country who will continue to cherish his memory and the countless moments they shared together. (And we can’t forget Raymond’s dog, Chloe!)

Andrew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Audrey (Burkett) Soper, his maternal grandmother Agnes (Mendel) Majewski, aunts Myra Ann Soper, Janice (Soper) Womack, Audra (Soper) Cowie, uncle William Cowie, and his best friends, Zach Frost and Andy Skibinski.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held graveside at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 1:30 PM with Rev. James K. Gullen officiating. Visitation will be held Monday morning at 11:00 AM until 1:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis department at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hos’s family.
