MOUNT VERNON  — Mary Jane Dees, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on November 25, 2023 at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born February 27, 1938 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Elijah and Viola (Geneva) Wilson. Mary Jane married George Dees on December 25, 1955.

In addition to her beloved husband of nearly sixty-eight years, Mary Jane is survived by her sons, Gary Dees and significant other, Debra Dees of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Jeffrey Dees and significant other, Amy Wilson of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Brittany Dees, Brandon Dees, and Vicki Sharkey; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Wilson and wife, Dixie, Charles Wilson and wife, Marie, Frank Wilson and wife, Phyllis, Danny Wilson and wife, Linda, and JR. Wilson and wife, Diane; sisters, Rosalee Faulkner, Cathy Boone and husband, Jimmy, and Nancy Hackett and husband, Jeff; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Wilson and sister, Delores Fairchild.

Mary Jane worked for Country Companies Insurance as a claims adjustor for many years. After retirement, she worked for Home Interiors and Gifts. She loved to travel, camp, and enjoyed motorcycle riding. Mary Jane loved the Lord and her family very much. She will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Mary Jane’s honor to Central Christian Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
