TEXICO, Ill. — Jerome K. Hefner, 74, of Texico passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born in Benton, IL on May 29, 1949 the son of James & Nadine (Wilkerson) Hefner. Jerome married Carolyn Sue (Whitlock) on December 20, 1969.

Mr. Hefner was a man of great Faith. He loved the Lord and shared that love with everyone and would pray for you, anywhere, anytime. He loved his family and never met a stranger. One of his greatest blessings was being Papa to Brooklyn. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Wife: Carolyn Sue Hefner of Texico

Daughter: Gwendolyn Upton & husband Steve of Texico

Granddaughter: Brooklyn Upton of Texico

Sister: Shirley Hawkins & husband Ronnie of Mt. Vernon

Brother: Tom Hefner & wife Cindy of Benton

Sister-in-law: Gayle Hefner of Dahlgren

Honorary Son & special friend of the family: Sean Wilkey & wife Aleasha of Dix

Several Nieces & Nephews

Mr. Hefner was preceded in death by his Parents, a Daughter-Robin Sue Hefner and a Brother-James D. Hefner.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 7th at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina. Visitation will also be after 9:00 A.M. on Friday, December 8th at the Panther Fork Church, followed by a funeral service starting at 10:00 A.M. being officiated by Pastor John Hefner & Pastor Ron White. Burial will be in the Panther Fork Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Hefner Family.
