MT. VERNON, IL — A Mt. Vernon woman has died from injuries she sustained in a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday.

31-year-old Aimee Bockhol was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on northbound route 37 in the area of Old Salem Road and Radio Tower Road. Reports indicate she crossed the centerline of the road, hit the rear of a southbound car driven by 81-year-old Madison, Illinois resident Leroy Tucker. Tucker’s vehicle would spin in the roadway before coming to rest in the northbound lane while Bockhol’s car would go on to collide with a southbound semi driven by 27-year-old Conner Kempf of Jasper, Indiana. Kempf’s semi would continue into the ditch before coming back across both lanes of Route 37. Kempf and Tucker would be taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

Route 37 was closed to traffic for almost three hours for cleanup and an investigation by the Illinois State Police.
