SALEM, IL — Downtown Salem is set to sparkle even more this Christmas season with two new holiday decorating programs. The Daffy Dill Garden Club and Keep Salem Beautiful are hosting a contest to decorate the city’s flower planters, with the theme “Frosty the Snowman.” Judging for this competition will take place on December 13th, with winners announced on December 16th. Meanwhile, Michelle Barbee is organizing a window decorating contest for downtown merchants, also themed “Frosty the Snowman.” Business owners have until December 7th to register, and displays should be ready for judging on December 13th and 14th. Winners will receive cash prizes, and the public can vote for their favorite display through a People’s Choice Award on Facebook.
