Mary Alice Purcell, age 82 of Salem, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Mary was born on August 28, 1942 in Farmersville the daughter of Emmitt and Edna (Stahr) Austin. She married Robert Purcell on June 1, 1963 at St. Theresa Catholic Church and he survives in Salem.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Edward Purcell, James Purcell, Allen Purcell and Gary Purcell all of Salem; three brothers, Roger Austin, Elmer Austin and wife Janet and Bob Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Jones and Marjorie Austin; and two brothers, Kenny Austin and Harold Austin.

Mary was a dedicated homemaker who spent many years working alongside her husband at Purcell Plumbing in Salem. Later, she assisted her son Ed with his business, Crossroads Plants. She found joy in caring for her flowers, creating beautiful arrangements, tending to her dogs, and listening to classic country music.

Visitation for Mary Alice Purcell will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, immediately followed by a graveside service at Summit Prairie Cemetery in Salem with Father Jose Jacob officiating.
