ELGIN, Ill. — Kathy Lee Alexander, 77, of Elgin, IL died at 12:16 pm on May 8th, 2024 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin. She was born August 15th, 1946, in Oakland, California. Her parents were Leona (Timm) Alexander and Dr. Raymond A. Alexander. They preceded her in death.
Kathy graduated from Lindenwood College and worked 40 years as a teacher: 17 years in Richardson Independent School District, in Texas, 18 years Our Saviour Lutheran School in Springfield, and 5 years in U46 School District in Elgin. She had many students appreciative of her support. She especially enjoyed sharing her love of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird with her 8th-grade students. She was a devoted mother and grandma of her family. She was nicknamed Kitty by several family members including her grandson Ty. She enjoyed traveling to warm places like beaches and was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan.
Ms. Alexander is survived by one son Christopher Heisler of Elgin, Illinois and one daughter Tiffany (Heisler) Calahan, and husband, Tim Calahan, of Austin, Texas and 3 grandchildren, Jacob Heisler(9), Ty Calahan(6) and Liam Heisler(5).
She is survived by two sisters Carol Baril and husband, Raymond Baril, and Linda Hanson and husband, Jim Hanson, and two brothers Michael Alexander and wife, Ruthie Alexander, and Dr. David Alexander and wife, Dr. Ingrid Alexander and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Those who wish, memorials may be given to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL or the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition.
A private family graveside will be held at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Interment will follow.
