MOUNT VERNON — Judith “Judy” D. Windhorst, 73, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:12 pm May 13, 2024, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born February 20, 1951, in Carbondale, Illinois to the late Eugene and Esther (Hudgens) Lang. Judy married Robert “Bob” Windhorst on December 16, 1972, in Marion, Illinois.
In addition to her beloved husband of fifty-one years, Judy is survived by her son, Ryan Windhorst and wife, Stephanie of Mount Zion, Illinois; daughter, Sara Bober and husband, Matt of Saint Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Jackson and Maddox Windhorst and Myla Bober; sister, Alice Lang of Marion, Illinois; brother, Louis Lang and wife, Theresa of Coffeen, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Windhorst worked as a Kindergarten teacher in Mount Vernon, Illinois for several years. She enjoyed reading on the beach, taking photos, and listening to church music. Above all, Judy loved spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Stacy Tate officiating. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 1:30 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, Illinois. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Judy’s honor to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD)
